27 Items Every Golfer Needs

27 Items Every Golfer Needs!

This is a fairly comprehensive list of Beginners Golf Equipment.

Very important a bag of clubs must not have more than 14 clubs, which also includes a putter. The combination of clubs is down to the individual, for instance a professional player may have three wedges with precise lofts for variable shots approaching the green. To be able to do that they will have to leave out one or two of the more usual clubs.

A beginner on the other hand may choose to have a 3 and 4 hybrid club instead of the 3 and 4 iron, in addition to those 5,6,7,8,9 PW and SW would be a good choice. For tee shots a Driver is most often used for the longest shots. Should you be on a tight budget then invest in a three wood it can be used for tee shots and off the grass as a fairway wood. There are many many golfers who prefer the three wood and hardly ever use a Driver. Oh and don't forget the putter quite possibly the most used club of all!

It's down to the individual golfer and needs will change as abilities progress.

Not every item is an absolute essential below, I think it will be apparent what you absolutely need and what you could do without for now.

Putter - You just can't do without it, so it goes at number 1! You could actually play a whole round with just a putter it has been done. Using it as a driver players have hit golf balls 200yards!!

Set of Irons - Typically 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,PW (pitching wedge), SW (Sand Wedge).

Woods - Usually 1 (Driver),3,5 (Fairway woods).

Hybrid Clubs - A club that is a combination of Irons & Woods a brilliant alternative to the 3 and 4 irons which are the harder irons to master for a beginner. They give you great distance along with added control of the ball.

Head Covers - Used to stop your Driver & woods getting damaged in transit. You can get covers for Irons, although not at all essential.

Golf Bag - Three main types Lightweight for carrying, then medium/large for push/pull trolleys, then there is the largest bags that usually go on electric trolleys.

Stand - Essential for carry bags it lets the bag stand upright, rather than the alternative which would be to lay the bag on the ground.

Umbrella - Just in case it rains!

Trolley - Many types, lightweight for carring over the shoulder, medium size/weight for hand pull or push trolleys/carts. The largest of the bags go on electric power carts.

Golf Balls - So many are available stay away from the latest buzz word balls they cost a lot! You will lose a lot so buy those when you don't lose so many. Lake balls are a good cheap option for a start when you tend to lose more.

Tee Pegs - Plastic, wooden, tall and short each has it's roll. Medium/tall for driving short for irons off tees.

Ball Marker - Used to mark the position of your ball on the green when you move it for cleaning etc. Most golf gloves have them on, or just use a small coin

Towel - Clubs need a clean quite often through a round especially if the grass is damp. Keep the grooves clear.

Golf glove - For your left hand if you are right handed or for your right hand if left handed.

Pitch Repairer - A little, usually metal flat two pronged fork type tool, used to lift the grass back to flat when your ball has made an indent on the green. It's courtesy to fix your own indent, and lot's of players will do one others close by.

Clothing- Denim is usually not allowed. Clothing should be comfortable with room to allow flexability for the swing to complete.

Golf Shoes - Shoes should be waterproof with anti slip cleats/spikes/softspikes.

Visor or Cap - Helps when the sun is strong, to focus on your intended target.

Wet gear - Many different sorts available from full suits (jacket and trousers) to just waterproof tops or trousers.

Rule book - There will be many a debate on this topic in the clubhouse AND within a round, so don't be caught out only trust the book! Many a golfer has been disqualified for getting something wrong whilst using others "advice". Learn the basics there are a few that occur time after time understand these well.

Ball retriever - Maybe this should be number 1! Usually a telescopic long handled device to fish balls out of water or other difficult places to reach.

Sun Cream - I don't need to tell you why you need that!

Water - I once got dehydrated in a 5 hour Pro am match it's a horrible feeling, so i always drink lot's when it is hot.

Pencil - For card marking.

Ear - To put the pencil behind!

Time - You may well get addicted!

Tolerance - For when the group in front hit their twentieth ball in the lake!

Golf is a great sport very social and competitive too. Hopefully I have given you a few basics ideas as to what is needed if you are just starting out in this 27 Golf Equipment Suggestions For Beginners guide.
